She also gave me this big half-globes Chocolate Chip Cookies from Gng Bukid. Yes, coined from Mrs. Fields. They have an almost cake-like texture, but a great eat nonetheless; something nice to have on hand when you just want something. I like how it's studded almost to the brink with chocolate chips and the buttery taste really comes through. Its pebbly, uneven top and hugeness also adds to its charm.

Along with the classic 'Pinoy Specialties' we offer Ginang Bukid, who is touted as the makers of the best maja blanca in town. They've also whipped up their menu with freshly made traditional breads and pandesals right off the oven!

Sweets for my sweets. Dessert lovers would go gaga over the available desserts! Gng. Bukid claims to have the best maja blanca. Theirs is white and comes in small (P60), medium (P180), and large (P300) sizes. Gng. Bukid also offers leche flan and cassava cake, and international cakes like chocolate mousse, tiramisu, fudge cake, banana loaf, butter loaf, brownies and cookies. The owners take pride in their chocolate mousse and fudge cake, a combination of a "creamy chocolate-y mousse over a layer of deeply chocolate fudge cake with chocolate chips on top, and a smooth fudge cake under a blanket of silky-on-the-tongue fudge frosting.

I always read about the Saturday Salcedo Market. So I visited it last saturday. It was raining, so I had a hard time enjoying the goodies on sale in one go. I roamed it thrice, and put in memory those that I would buy and came back for it. They sell a lot of organic produce, cooked and raw food, spices, breads, dips, sauces, sweets and pastries, Gng. Bukid with the Best Maja Blanca and a whole lot more.

For market afficionados, try the Lung Center tiangge. They are open every Sundays from 5am to 12pm. They have great products there! You should try Gng Bukid’s chocolate fudge and leche flan. Parking can be a hassle and it is so hot from 10am down so it is better to come early in the morning.

Saw the best maja blanca in town. We got some to bring home and it is really one of the best ones I ever had, creamy, flavorful and the coconut cream was so rich from Gng Bukid.

Every Saturday, for as early as 6am until early afternoon, there is a food fair on the parking lot of Leviste in between Toledo and Velasquez, Salcedo Village. Food items such as pastries, deli, restaurants, and organically grown fruits and vegetables. There are some stalls which also caters to handicrafts and gardening. I've been there only twice, after work (night shift). I went with DG, Popoy, Alan, and Mama Joy the second time. They just had breakfast there. My current faves from the place are Tiramisu and Maja from Gng Bukid.

All through watching TV we enjoyed mouth-watering tiramisu from “Gng Bukid” and some chocolate bars. More calories. Hehehe. Really good dessert. And affordable price.

A TASTE OF LIFE by HENY SISON

If Mrs. Fields is popular because of her best-selling chocolate chip cookies, we now have Ginang Bukid (a literal Tagalog translation of Mrs. Fields), which claims to sell the best maja blanca in town. Yes, taste is subjective, but I must admit it was one of the better Pinoy delicacies I've tried.

I mean, if I didn't have pancakes before meeting my mom, I would've egged her to get a good batch of Ginang Bukid's chocolate mousse (to die for!)
